Even if you change, blood sugar is low

What is

low carbon hill?

Low carb, which stands for

“low carb high fat,” literally means a diet that consumes less carbohydrates and more fat. It’s the opposite diet for Koreans who live with rice. The low-carbon diet has been a huge sensation since it was introduced in the MBC Special, which aired in September 2016. On social media and various blogs, there were a flurry of reviews saying that they succeeded in losing weight with a low-carbon diet.

In fact, low-carbon heights are not a recent concept. It was a method used in 1920 to reduce seizures in children with epilepsy. Over time, it has become popular as a "diet method" as well as a series of reports that it is effective not only in the treatment of epilepsy patients but also in the weight loss of obese people.

The reason for

is that glucose, the main source of energy in our body, is mainly consumed through carbohydrates, which are replaced by fat due to reduced carbohydrate intake. Eventually, fat stored in the body is used as an energy source to lose weight.

Effective on diabetes?

Insulin secreted by the

pancreas detects glucose concentration in the blood, that is, blood sugar, and controls it within the normal range. What insulin doesn’t do is diabetes. If you consume too much carbohydrates, the rest is stored as fat except for glucose, which is used as an energy source, and when it accumulates and becomes obese, insulin resistance increases and insulin fails to function properly.

To recover the original

insulin level, losing weight is a priority. In addition, fat accumulation due to excessive carbohydrates should be reduced and existing fat should be used as an energy source. The low-carbon diet is a diet suitable for this process and helps lower blood sugar by increasing “insulin sensitivity.”

Problem with

Low Carbon Hill?

The key to

low-carbon heights is not to eat a lot of fat. It is important to maintain the overall calories but reduce the proportion of carbohydrates and increase the proportion of fat. It is recommended to consume 70 to 75% of the total meal composition as fat and 5 to 10% of carbohydrates.

However, if you increase the proportion of fat, you can consume cholesterol, a type of fat component, to exceed the recommended amount. If this persists, hyperlipidemia may occur due to increased risk of exposure to cardiovascular disease. Hyperlipidemia is a disease that increases cholesterol in the blood, and it is dangerous because if fat continues to accumulate in the walls of blood vessels, it can lead to arteriosclerosis.

By the way, Chinese people who enjoy greasy food and pork have a low incidence of cardiovascular disease worldwide. According to an epidemiological survey of heart disease rates in 37 countries around the world over the past 10 years by the World Health Organization (WHO), China had the lowest number of heart disease cases per 100,000 people.

The secret to health was onions that go into food with little to no loss. The quercetin component in onions decomposes cholesterol in blood vessels to clean blood vessels. For those who practice a low-carbon diet, eating products containing quercetin together is a way to take care of blood vessel health.

Tip. Recommended food for low-carbon highlands

meat

Best source of fat. When choosing meat, it is recommended to choose the fat-rich part. I recommend pork belly, rib eye, and beef brisket rather than pork neck.

Macadamia

very fatty nuts. Most of the fat is made up of unsaturated fatty acids, which is good for heart health and is effective in lowering blood sugar by increasing insulin sensitivity. It's good to eat as a snack when you're hungry.

Avocado

The advantage is that it has a high fat content and lasts for a long time. Since it is low in sugar and contains a lot of potassium, it has the effect of lowering the frequency of diabetes complications.

Olive oil

Superfood called God-given gifts in the Mediterranean region. It contains a lot of unsaturated fatty acids that are good for the body, so it is effective in preventing arteriosclerosis and vascular diseases. I recommend eating it with salmon or steak.
